Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr.Musalia Mudavadi has asked Kenyans do differentiate between popular leaders and those involved in populism. Mudavadi also cabinet secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs said there was a difference between being popular and populism. Speaking when he addressed over 6000 youths at the PAG church National Conference in Nyang'ori, Vihiga County, PCS said there were politicians who was engaged in political rhetorics so as to receive accolades at the expense to speaking the truth. "There are leaders who will come to a forum like this and speak what pleases your hears so that you can clap and ululate, but outside the they are hoodwinking the people and cannot tolerate them beyond the podium," said Mudavadi. He said together with President William Ruto, they were exercising mature politics where they speak their truth to issues. PCS urged the youth to be wary lest they elect leaders who were bitter, vengeful and vindictive. "You will listen to the, they are angry, they are bitter, speak with vengeance and sound vindictive. They will not implement anything, they are only keen on spreading hate," said Mudavadi. "Be careful so that we don't elect such leaders. We should not surrender to such leaders." He added. Mudavadi said there was a reason why children begun from nursery school before the made steps to primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. "A child does not wake up one day and skip the classes. So is it in politics, you wake one day and pretend that you want to be a national leader without building networks and investing in politics," said PCS. He said politics was not like instant coffee where you boil water, put a spoon of coffee and water, then drink but involved a lot more. "When you want to become a champion you cannot do it like instant coffee. If you want to be a boxer, you strain. The young people is that there is a process to become a champion," said Mudavadi. "We must come to the terms that we must work hard.We don't want the young people to work alone, they should take the counsel of those ahead of them," he added. He urged the youth to register in big numbers as voters and become a voter to determine your future. PCS said President Ruto has served development to the country equitably and needed an extra term to complete huge projects he had started in the country. He said there were huge infrastructure projects that President Ruto has implemented and they had a huge impact on the people of the Western region. "We have only heard and seen a dual carriageway in Thika and Mount Kenya, today, a major one the Nairobi Malaba dual carriageway cutting through the Western region, we deserve it and it will open our economy," said Mudavadi. PCS said he liked the like the enthusiasm of the young people who were in the meeting to restore their spirits and encouraged them to have a purpose. "There are countries which are aging society and does not renew fast. Having young people is God's way of ensuring that we shall have renewed," said Mudavadi. PCS said the government of Kenya was mindful of the young people and had invested Sh.780billion meant for education. "This is the first government that has invested such a huge some of over 20percent in education, the government is determined to ensure we have an educated youth population. He however warned the young people of the increase in the numbers of HIV infection rate especially in the Western region. "Kenya has fought with the problem of HIV and AIDS. As we stand now, Kenya remains number 7 globally. The majority are young, the new infections are young people between 18-35 years," PCS said. He added; "From the data, from authoritative body, the highest challenge is in Western Kenya and lowest in Mandera." He said Kenya was loosing 20,000 people to the scourge every year. PCS said young people must make decisions that will guarantee their future, and guarantee the future. He asked the young people to maintain peace. "Kenya shall have a free and fair election. We want him to win democratic process. That is what we stand for," said Mudavadi.
