Governor Fernandes Barasa has questioned the belief among some opposition supporters that former President Uhuru Kenyatta can help deliver the presidency to their preferred candidate in 2027. Speaking during the commissioning of Marble Paints Industry in Lurambi Sub-County, Barasa pointed to the 2022 elections, when Kenyatta was President and had the full machinery of government at his disposal but still failed to secure the presidency for Raila Odinga. Barasa said the 2022 outcome should be a lesson for politicians on the realities of political power, alliances and electoral dynamics. He urged leaders and residents of Western Kenya to approach the 2027 political contest with realism and a clear focus on the region’s long-term interests. According to Barasa, the region should support President William Ruto to complete his final constitutional term while using the period to unite, strengthen its political strategy and build strategic alliances across the country. He argued that such an approach would give Western Kenya the time and political leverage needed to mount a serious and coordinated bid for the presidency in 2032. Ends..
