The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has retained the maximum retail prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene for the September-October pricing cycle, meaning motorists will not see an increase at the pump. In Nairobi, a litre of Super Petrol will continue to retail at Sh214.03, while diesel will cost Sh217.86 and kerosene Sh191.38. In Mombasa, petrol remains at Sh210.87, diesel at Sh214.58 and kerosene at Sh188.09. EPRA said the decision was made despite changes in the cost of importing petroleum products. The landed cost of petrol fell to about Sh113.39 per litre, while diesel rose to approximately Sh124.17 and kerosene to Sh130.22. Fuel prices will continue to vary across different parts of the country because of transportation costs from the coast to inland depots. Mandera has the highest prices, with petrol at Sh234.68 per litre, diesel at Sh240.04 and kerosene at Sh213.56. The shilling’s relatively stable exchange rate against the US dollar also helped cushion pump prices from higher international costs. The current prices will remain in effect until the next monthly review in October.
